The Pirates today brought another new face to the front office, hiring Marc DelPiano as a special assistant to the general manager.
DelPiano, 41, spent the past three years as a special assignment scout for the Boston Red Sox. He also has worked as the Florida Marlins’ director of player development and director of international scouting and as an area scout for the Montreal Expos.
DelPiano is the fourth addition to GM Neal Huntington’s staff since the end of the 2008 season.
Also today, the Pirates began ticket sales for the 19th annual PirateFest, which will be held Jan. 23-25 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Downtown. For the first time, there will be no admission charge for fans ages 14 and under.
Ticket-buyers for PirateFest will receive a password for a special early purchase window for individual game tickets on Pirates.com.
