Asthma forces Wilson out of game

PORT CHARLOTTE — Jack Wilson’s asthma flared up and he was forced to heave tonight’s game against the Rays after one inning. Wilson left the field with head athletic trainer Brad Henderson.

Wilson took one at-bat and popped out. He played shortstop in the bottom of the first inning, but did not make any plays in the field.

According to a team spokesman, Wilson’s condition is not serious and he left the game merely as a precaution.
