BRADENTON, Fla. — There will be baseball this afternoon, after all.

The wave of thunderstorms has moved out of the area and the skies over McKechnie Field actually are clearing. The charity game against State College of Florida will get under way as scheduled at 12:05 p.m.

Pirates lineup: Gorkys Hernandez 8, John Raynor 7, Jose Tabata 9, Pedro Alvarez 5, Steve Pearce 3, Brandon Moss DH, Erik Kratz 2, Argenis Diaz 6, Doug Bernier 4. Bryan Morris will start, followed by a host of pitchers.

— Eight players will not make the trip tomorrow to Tampa for the Grapefruit League opener against the Yankees: Moss, Jason Jaramillo, Tony Sanchez, Bobby Crosby, Ramon Vazquez, Brandon Jones, Brian Myrow and Jon Van Every.

— Kyle Bloom, Daniel Moskos and Dustin Molleken will go to Tampa as backup pitchers.

— Manager John Russell has begun having his one-on-one sit-downs with the players.
