Cedeno passes first test


BRADENTON, Fla. — Ronny Cedeno (hand laceration) took batting practice in the cages this morning and reported no problems. “It feels much better,” Cedeno said. Cedeno was injured Sunday and did not work out Monday. Tuesday was an off day for the team.

— Closer Octavio Dotel (strained oblique) will pitch one inning Thursday in a minor league game at Pirate City. It will be his first outing this spring.

— Ross Ohlendorf will start tomorrow against Minnesota. The right-hander is slated to throw four innings/60 pitches. Brian Bass, Chris Jakubauskas, Javier Lopez, Jean Machi and Jack Taschner also are scheduled to pitch.

— Ryan Doumit, Bobby Crosby, Aki Iwamura, Andy LaRoche, Ryan Church and Andrew McCutchen will not make the trip to Fort Myers, Fla., to play the Twins.
