Familiar foe for Maholm

BRADENTON, Fla. — If it’s the Red Sox in the opposing team’s dugout, it must also be Paul Maholm on the mound for the Pirates.

Maholm has made four starts this spring, two against the BoSox and two against the Yankees. Boston comes to McKechnie Field this afternoon, and Maholm will make his fifth start.

The Red Sox will use a designated hitter today. The Pirates will play by National League rules and let Maholm take some hacks.
