State College contract extended


The Pirates have finalized a two-year contract extension with short-season Class A State College. Team prez Frank Coonelly and GM Neal Huntington will be at Medlar Field to make the announcement before tonight’s 7:05 p.m. first pitch.

»»» Former Pirates catcher Ronny Paulino, now with the Marlins, was suspended 50 games after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. Paulino played for the Pirates from 2005-08 and hit 26 homers in 304 games. He batted .259 with four homers in 91 games this season for Florida.
