Singh promoted to State College

CHICAGO — One of the two Indian pitchers in the Pirates’ system has made it out of the Gulf Coast League.

Left-hander Rinku Singh was promoted to short-season Class A State College. He went 2-0 with one save and a 2.61 ERA in 13 relief outings for the GCL Pirates in Bradenton, Fla.

Singh and righty Dinesh Patel were signed in November 2008 after both were on the Indian TV reality show “Million-Dollar Arm.” Singh beat out 30,000 entrants to win the show and a chance to play in America.
