The Pirates optioned right-hander Chris Leroux to Triple-A Indianapolis this afternoon, so barring some last-minute waiver claim or trade, right-hander Mike Crotta and left-hander Garrett Olson will be members of the Pirates’ bullpen for Opening Day.
The three were vying for two remaining spots in the bullpen, which already included Jose Veras, Chris Resop, Jeff Kartens, Joel Hanrahan and Evan Meek, all right-handers.
The Pirates now have 30 players left in major league camp, but that includes catcher Chris Snyder and pitchers Jose Ascanio and Scott Olsen, who are expected to go on the disabled list. It also includes Joe Beimel, a non-roster player who will throw more innings in extended spring training, and Brad Lincoln, who is expected to either go to extended spring training or Triple-A Indianapolis.
The move also means that James McDonald should be able to make his scheduled start on Tuesday in St. Louis instead of starting on the disabled list.
So, again, barring some last-minute trade or waiver claim, the 25-man roster is this:
Pitchers: Kevin Correia, Paul Maholm, Ross Ohlendorf, Charlie Morton, James McDonald, Jeff Karstens, Chris Resop, Jose Veras, Garrett Olson, Mike Crotta, Evan Meek, Joel Hanrahan.
Catchers: Ryan Doumit, Jason Jaramillo.
Infielders: Lyle Overbay, Neil Walker, Pedro Alvarez, Ronny Cedeno, Josh Rodriguez, Steve Pearce.
Outfielders: Jose Tabata, Andrew McCutchen, Matt Diaz, Garrett Jones, John Bowker.

And, finally, in a minor-league move, the Pirates traded infield prospect Jim Negrych to the Marlins for catcher Carlos Paulino.
