Pregame: Goin’ streaking

SAN FRANCISCO — The Pirates ride a 10-game losing streak into tonight’s game, their longest skid since dropping 12 games in a row from June 6-18, 2010. This is the fourth season out of the past six that the Pirates have had a double-digit losing streak. Although they never had a winning record from 1993-2005, they also never lost more than nine consecutive games in any of those seasons.

»»» This is the Pirates’ 10th road trip of the year. They have won the opening game in eight of the previous nine road swings.

»»» Brandon Wood is starting tonight at shortstop, as Ronny Cedeno has been benched for the second game in a row.
