Jauss hired; Caravan set

JaussThe Pirates hired Dave Jauss as a major league scout. Jauss formerly worked as bench coach for the New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers and Baltimore Orioles. He was a candidate for the Pirates’ manager job in 1997, but the team instead hired John Russell. Sometime in the next week or so, the Pirates will announce other hirings of scouts and minor league coaches. The list could include one name that might surprise you. (More on that if/when it becomes official.)
