As part of a three-year extension of their corporate partnership, Anheuser-Busch and the Pirates this season will open the “Budweiser Bowtie Bar” at PNC Park. It will be the first full-service bar on the main concourse level of the ballpark.

The U-shaped lounge, located near Section 101, will have an open floor plan overlooking right field. It will be available for rent to groups of 50 or more fans, and the $2,250 rental fee will include a $1,000 food credit. Construction is expected to cost between $500,000 and $1 million, and is slated to be completed by Opening Day. Budweiser has been a corporate sponsor of the Pirates since PNC Park opened in 2001.

A new bar! Great! That will turn us around in no time!

  2. Jay Walker says:

It’s another Busch move, if you ask me.

  3. John Lease says:

Maybe they’ll staff it with Nation of Islam servers, since it’s a bowtie theme?

What a business man this Nutting is. Since he will not spend a dime of his own money to field a competitive team, continuing to find creative ways to get fans hammered is the only way to go. What’s next? Replacing the t-shirt toss with jagerbombs!? How about instead of pierogie races they replace the race with pierogie keg stands?

I am all for boozin at the ballpark but when our baseball teams offseason highlights are new stadium bars and new food menu items then you know our franchise is pathetic. NUTTING PLEASE SELL THE TEAM!

  5. Ernest says:

Not sure if they could get Nation of Islam servers. Wouldn’t that be against their religion? Or would it just be against their religion to actually drink themselves? :)
