Game 2: Lineup shuffle

philsMatt Hague tonight will make his major league debut. He’s starting at first base and batting fifth. There are a few other surprises in the lineup. Jose Tabata and Alex Presley traded lineup spots, with Tabata batting leadoff. Casey McGehee replaces Pedro Alvarez at third base (which isn’t really a surprise, considering the Phils are starting a lefty). Neil Walker has dropped to sixth in the order — he hit there in just two games last season. Rod Barajas is catching; not a total stunner, given yesterday was an off day, but Jeff Karstens and Michael McKenry have formed a pretty good duo in the past. More info on these moves after Clint Hurdle’s pregame chat.

»»» I had lunch over at South Side Works today and saw a TON of Philly fans, many of them clad in black-and-orange Flyers jerseys. Good news is, I saw much, much more in the way of Penguins gear on the streets.

»»» At Triple-A Indy, Jake Fox is on the DL with a strained oblique.

  1. Let’s hope the Bucs do better today with the lineup changes and all. Wake up the offense because they will be facing a tough lefty, so hope we can get those right hand bats working as we know they can. GO, BUCS!!

  2. If Hague goes 4-4….

  3. The “hit collector” makes his debut hope his hot spring carries over! Might even get some production from a 3rd baseman for a change. Time to even the series let’s go bucs!

  4. Cliff Lee is even better than most folks think he is, but I still feel this line-up can scratch out a couple runs at least. Good thing our best pitcher Karstens is in there, we’ll need to keep them off the board as much as possible.
I would even have been more hopeful if McLouth was in place of Tabata, but there’s nothing I can do about that.
    Lets Go Bucs!

  5. Any time McCutchen wants to earn his fat contract is fine with me.
