Morning briefing: Game 3 at Blue Jays

facebooktwittergoogle_plusredditpinterestlinkedinmail

DUNEDIN, Fla. — Josh Harrison had a big ice pack strapped to his right shoulder in the clubhouse this morning. That’s not a routine procedure, especially at 7:30 a.m., but Harrison insisted he’s not injured. “I’m OK,” he told me, and moved his right arm up and down to drive the point home. “It’s a little chilly today. Gotta keep the arm moving.” I’ll take his word, for now, but let’s keep an eye on it.

>> Today marks a “homecoming” of sorts for infielder Brent Morel. He was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays in December, but never really had a chance to establish roots before being waived again. The Pirates claimed him Tuesday.

>> Pirate City will be a host site for the annual MLB/USA Baseball Breakthrough Series, which give top high school players exposure to college recruiters and pro scouts. The event will be held July 19-28 at four regional locations: Pirate City in Bradenton, Fla.; the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, Calif.; the P&G Cincinnati MLB Urban Youth Academy; and MCU Park in Brooklyn, N.Y.

    Rob,

Thanks for doing these daily posts. I always appreciate the tidbits and the in person view.

Will you get a chance to talk to Kawasaki?? He is viewed as a ‘cult-hero’ type in Toronto. They really love him up there.

  2. Sorry Bautista is not playing.

I always root for him to hit 3 HRs when he plays the Bucs.
