Caps (Game 3) – Off-day Post

Some thoughts and observations from Game 3 of the Pens-Caps Superstar Summit Series:

Trib’s 3 Stars:

1 – Simeon Varlamov, Capitals: Dominik Hasek of his generation? He gets something on everything!

2 – Evgeni Malkin, Penguins: Now THAT was a response, brother.

3 – Sidney Crosby, Penguins: Sure, Kris Letang scored the OT winner, but Crosby was strong all game and his faceoff win made Letang’s shot possible.

Again and again and again: The Penguins have cut the Caps series lead to 2-1. They are now 12-2 all-time against the Capitals in the playoffs when trailing a best-of-seven series by two games.

Believe it or not: The Penguins have not swept Games 3 and 4 of a playoff series at home since the 1991 Wales Conference final against Boston. The Pens are 0-5 in home Games 4s after winning Game 3 at home since.
