Pens-Ducks blog

Greetings, hockey fans.

Teemu is in town. The Penguins can’t score. There is plenty to talk about. First, take note of these:

Tonight’s probable lines and defense pairings:

Chris Kunitz-Sidney Crosby-Beau Bennett

Pascal Dupuis-Evgeni Malkin-James Neal

Jussi Jokinen-Brandon Sutter-Brian Gibbons

Tanner Glass-Joe Vitale-Craig Adams

Olli Maatta-Kris Letang

Brooks Orpik-Paul Martin

Matt Niskanen-Robert Bortuzzo

Marc-Andre Fleury

These are some interesting line combinations, eh? Obviously Dan Bylsma and the Pens coaching staff is growing more and more frustrated with the team’s perplexing inability to muster any offense. Crosby loves playing with right-handed wingers, so in that regard, Bennett could be of great service. We’ll see. Should be interesting.

Injury update
Not much to report here. The Penguins, in fact, are oddly healthy right now, with the exception of Rob Scuderi and Chuck Kobasew. Scuderi should be back around Christmas, by the sounds of things. I’d expect Kobasew back fairly soon, though there’s no guarantee that he goes right back into the lineup.

Watch For This N’ At

= Teemu Selanne is a living legend and he’s playing in Pittsburgh tonight. If you love hockey, you need to either be here in person or tune in. They don’t make them like Teemu anymore. He’s a true gentleman, by the way. Nicest guy ever. And obviously one of the greatest hockey players of all time.
= Bruce Boudreau has a pretty good history in this building. But he also said yesterday that Crosby and Malkin slumping “scares the crap” out of him, because he’s figuring they’re due to break out fairly soon.
= Marc-Andre Fleury is playing for the third time in four nights for the first time this season.
= The Washington Capitals have passed the Penguins in the Metropolitan Division standings. Didn’t see that coming a couple of weeks ago.
