Blair gets Big East honor roll

DeJuan Blair averaged 25 points and 11 rebounds in victories over Robert Morris and DePaul, but it wasn’t enough to earn Big East Player of the Week honors for the first time in his career.

Connecticut center Hasheem Thabeet won the award, the league announced Monday, after averaging 15.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and five blocked shots in victories over Louisville and Michigan.

Blair was part of the five-man Big East honor roll, along with Deonta Vaughn of Cincinnati, Jeremy Hazell of Seton Hall, Jonny Flynn of Syracuse and Dante Cunningham of Villanova.

Yancy Gates of Cincinnati was named Big East Rookie of the Week.
