Pitt fell two spots to No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll released on Monday afternoon. Pitt (26-3, 13-3), which lost to Providence 81-73 on Feb. 24 as the No. 1-ranked team, plays host to No. 13 Marquette (23-6, 12-4) on Wednesday night. Connecticut is ranked No. 1, followed by North Carolina (25-3).

Pitt will play host to Connecticut on Saturday, the Panthers’ first home game against a No. 1 team since UConn beat the Panthers, 70-69, on Dec. 12, 1998. Pitt beat Connecticut in Hartford, 76-68, on Feb. 16.

Pitt is No. 4 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll.

Also, senior forward Sam Young was named to the Big East Honor Roll after averaging 22.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in two games. Providence senior guard Weyinmi Efejuku, who scored 16 points in the Friars’ victory over then-No. 1 Pitt, was named the Big East Player of the Week.
