Pitt beats Marquette


DeJuan Blair scored 23 points, Levance Fields had a double-double and Sam Young added 18 points as No. 3 Pitt beat Marquette, 90-75, on Wednesday night at Petersen Events Center. Blair, showing no ill-effects of his knee injury, added nine rebounds and four blocked shots, Fields had 17 points and 10 assists. Young shot 7 of 12 from the field and added eight rebounds. Pitt (27-3, 14-3), which clinched at least third place in the Big East with the win, trailed 61-60 with 12:55 to play, but went on a 25-4 run to pull away. Jerel McNeal scored 23 points and Lazar Hayward 22 to lead Marquette (23-7, 12-5), which lost its third game in a row while playing without injured point guard Dominic James
