Here’s a look back at Pitt’s previous two meetings with West Virginia this season:
On Jan. 25, Pitt won, 79-67, at West Virginia Coliseum behind 22 points from Mountaineer killer Sam Young. DeJuan Blair (16 points, 11 rebounds) had a double-double, and Pitt shot 53.6 percent from the field.
In the rematch at Petersen Events Center, Pitt held Da’Sean Butler to four points on 2 of 12 shooting in a 70-59 win. Young had 20 points and seven rebounds in a foul-plagued game.
Butler didn’t stay down long. In his next game, he scored 43 points – the most by any Big East player this season – in a 93-72 victory over Villanova despite playing on a hobbled ankle.
