Pitt has received a verbal commitment from Liberty senior Anthony Gonzalez, regarded as one of the top quarterbacks in the Class of 2010.
The 6-foot-2, 205-pound Gonzalez, ranked by Rivals.com as the nation’s 17th-best quarterback, was named the Pennsylvania Class AAAA Player of the Year last season after leading Liberty to the state championship over Bethel Park, 28-21, in overtime.
Gonzalez, who also considered Florida State, Missouri, Oregon and Illinois, rushed for 1,697 yards and 24 touchdowns and passed for 1,570 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior.
Gonzalez suffered an injured meniscus Sept. 4 and underwent surgery this week. He is expected to miss two months.

Great news on Anthony Gonzales, this guy is one heck of an athlete!!
