Pitt middle linebacker Adam Gunn, the reigning Big East Defensive Player of the Week, is not dressed for tonight’s game against Navy (1-1) at Heinz Field with an left ankle sprain. Gunn, a sixth-year senior who is tied for second in the nation with five sacks, will be replaced in the lineup by true freshman Dan Mason will make his first career start for the Panthers (2-0). Gunn was injured during last week’s 54-27 victory at Buffalo.
Well, Mason gets his first introduction to the lineup earlier than expected. He was a training camp star and this is a tough opening assignment. No word yet on the severity of Gunn’s injury.
