RALEIGH, N.C. — Pitt freshman middle linebacker Dan Mason will start for the Panthers against N.C. State at 3:30 p.m. this afternoon as senior Adam Gunn remains hobbled with a right ankle sprain.
Mason was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week last week after his 11-tackle, two-sack performance in the 27-14 victory over Navy in his first career start. Gunn, listed as questionable according to Pitt officials, has not been ruled out of the game, but will not start.
