Pitt moves to No. 8 in AP poll


Pitt has achieved its highest ranking in the AP football poll in 20 years after moving to No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 football poll, released this  afternoon.

It is the highest in the AP poll for the Panthers since they were seventh on the Oct. 24, 1989. The Panthers (8-1, 5-0 Big East), who were 14th in last week’s poll, are No. 9 in the ESPN Coaches poll.

It also marks the latest in the season that Pitt has been ranked in the top 10 since 1982. The BCS standings will be released later today.
