Pitt moves into AP top 10

Pitt continued its rapid ascent up the Associated Press Top 25 men’s basketball poll, moving to No. 9 in this week’s rankings, released today.
Pitt (15-2, 5-0), coming off an 82-77 overtime victory against Louisville, has won eight in a row. The Panthers are No. 11 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ poll. This marks the ninth year in a row that Pitt has reached the AP Top 10.
Also, junior guard Brad Wanamaker earned a spot on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll, becoming the first Pitt player this season to receive the recognition. Wanamaker averaged 19.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in victories over Connecticut and Louisville.
The Panthers were unranked three weeks ago, but debuted at No. 23 on Jan. 4 and No. 16 last week in the AP poll.
West Virginia dropped one spot to No. 11 in the AP top 25.
