Pitt moves to No. 12 in poll

Pitt has vaulted seven spots to No. 12 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 men’s basketball poll, released today.
The Panthers (21-6, 10-4 Big East) have won five in a row, capped by a 70-65 victory over then No. 3 Villanova on Sunday at Petersen Events Center. Pitt also won at Marquette last week, 58-51.
Pitt is one of five Big East teams in the top 12 of the AP poll. Syracuse is No. 4, followed by Villanova at No. 7, West Virginia at No. 8 and Georgetown at No. 12. Kansas remains atop the poll followed by Kentucky.
Pitt, which is No. 16 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, plays at Notre Dame (17-10, 6-8) on Wednesday.
