Pitt lands No. 3 seed, to face Oakland


Pitt received a No. 3 seed in the West Region in the 2010 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament unveiled tonight.
Pitt (24-8), an at-large selection, will meet Oakland (26-8) on Friday in Milwaukee at an undetermined time.
The winner will advance to play either No. 6 seed Xavier (24-8) or No. 11 seed Minnesota (21-13) on Sunday in the second round. The West Regional site is Salt Lake City.
Oakland won the Summit League regular season and tournament titles, going 17-1 in the conference. The Golden Grizzlies have won 11 in a row.
Other teams in Pitt’s region include No. 1 Syracuse, No. 2 Kansas State, No. 4 Vanderbilt, No. 5 Butler and No. 7 BYU.
Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and Syracuse received No. 1 seeds.
