Home games against Connecticut, Syracuse, Villanova and West Virginia highlight the Pitt men’s basketball team’s Big East schedule for the 2010-11 season.
Pitt will play South Florida, West Virginia and Villanova twice as part of its 18-game conference schedule, while meeting the remaining teams once.
Pitt’s other home games are against Cincinnati, Marquette, Notre Dame, Seton Hall and South Florida.
The Panthers, who return seven of their top eight scorers from a 25-9 team, will play away games at DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Providence, Rutgers, St. John’s, South Florida, Villanova, West Virginia.
In addition to Pitt, West Virginia will play Louisville and DePaul twice.
The Mountaineers will play home games against Connecticut, DePaul, Louisville, Notre Dame, Pitt, Providence, St. John’s, Seton Hall and USF.
WVU will play road games at Cincinnati, DePaul, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse and Villanova.
The dates and times of all Big East games will be announced at a later date.
Pitt’s non-conference schedule includes the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 18-19 against two of three opponents — Maryland, Texas and Illinois. The Panthers will play Tennessee in the SEC/Big East Invitational at Consol Energy Center on Dec. 11. Pitt will also host Rhode Island (Nov. 8) and Illinois-Chicago (Nov. 10) in the Coaches vs. Cancer event.
In other news, Pitt on Friday will announce the details of its trip to Ireland in late July.
