Pitt was represented with half of the eight-man Pittsburgh Basketball Club Pro-Am all-League team released on Wednesday.
Gilbert Brown, Ashton Gibbs, Gary McGhee and J.J. Richardson earned all-league honors among Division I players in the Greentree-based summer league. J.J. Moore, Lamar Patterson and Talib Zanna of Pitt were part of the six-man all-Freshman team.
Other first-team selections were former Beaver Falls star Lance Jeter of Nebraska, Russell Johnson of Robert Morris and Eric Evans of Duquesne.
The league MVP, which seems to be a three-man race between Brown, Gibbs and incoming Duquesne freshman T.J. McConnell, will be announced after tonight’s championship game.
The Lair, featuring Brown, will play Center Court, led by Gibbs and Richardson, at 7 p.m. at Greentree Sportsplex for the finals. The Lair defeated Center Court, 88-80, in their regular-season meeting two weeks ago behind 29 points from Brown. Gibbs scored 26 points in the loss.
Among other honors, street ball legend Lamar Castile, the subject of a feature in Sunday’s Trib, and former Central Catholic star Kyle Goldcamp highlighted the all-pro/league alumni team.
Here are the complete teams.
