A preliminary hearing for suspended Pitt defensive end Jabaal Sheard has been postponed to Aug. 4.
Sheard, 21, of Hollywood, Fla., was initially scheduled for a preliminary hearing on aggravated assault, a felony, along resisting arrest, criminal mischief and disorderly conduct in connection with a July 18 fight outside La Fond Galleries on East Carson Street on the South Side.
During the fight, Sheard threw Edward Parker, 27, of Stanton Heights threw the glass door on a South Side art gallery, according to police reports.
The university suspended Sheard indefinitely from the team. Pitt begins training camp on Aug. 7.
Sheard, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound senior, is one of the top defensive end in the Big East. He made 42 tackles and led the team in quarterback hurries each of the past two years.
