*** It’s about 25 minutes to kickoff between Pitt (2-2) and Notre Dame (2-3). It’s 80 degrees and there are no clouds in the sky – only a Goodyear blimp slowly circling above the 80,795-seat stadium that is quickly filling up for the 216th consecutive sellout.
*** Dion Lewis, listed as probable with a sore shoulder, is running fine during pre-game drills. Look for him to start ahead of Ray Graham.
*** Walking through the parking lot earlier today, I saw a decent amount of Pitt fans mingling among the tens of thousands of green-clad Notre Dame fans. The Panthers’ fans always travel well to South Bend and this weekend is no different with a good showing on an absolutely beautiful fall afternoon in mid-America.
*** There will be a pre-game U.S. Air Force flyover as the National Anthem concludes, featuring four T-38s from the 394th Combat Training Squadron.
*** Many of the Notre Dame players are wearing pink wrist bands and arm wraps in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness. There are also numerous pink towels draped on the benches along the Notre Dame sidelines. Pitt has no specks of pink anywhere on their uniforms or sideline. And that’s good.
