Pitt used a 15-0 run to end the first half on the way to an 82-58 victory over Penn on Saturday night at Petersen Events Center.

No. 5 Pitt (7-0) won its 52nd consecutive game against a non-conference opponent and moved into position to ascend to the top 3 in the nation after losses this past week by No. 2 Michigan State and No. 4 Kansas State.

Leading 21-18 with 6:48 to play in the first half, Pitt got points from six different players during a 15-0 run to take a 36-18 halftime lead. Penn (2-3), the first Ivy League school to play Pitt in 15 years, never got closer than 12 in the second half.

Ashton Gibbs scored 12 points and Dante Taylor added 11 for Pitt, which got at least four points from nine different players.

Miles Cartwright scored 22 points and Jack Eggleston added 16 for Penn.

The Panthers will play Duquesne in the annual City Game on Wednesday at Consol Energy Center.
