A rare look at Pitt basketball will be shown on ESPNU this week. A half-hour All-Access television show will air at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Viewers will get a rare behind-the-scenes, all-access look at a “day-in-the-life” of the Panthers. The show, hosted by coach Jamie Dixon, will be rebroadcast at 5 p.m. on Thursday and at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
This is going to be an interesting show and everyone I talked to at Pitt said it gives some seldom-seen insight, including unique footage of Pitt practices and film sessions.
The ESPN crew was on campus on Dec. 20 as Pitt prepared to play American. The crew filmed an entire Pitt practice — workouts that are typically closed to the media — and a post-practice film session. Word is that coach Dixon ripped into some of his players during the practice when he wasn’t satisfied with their effort (hopefully, that makes the final cut).
Other footage includes a look at senior Gilbert Brown’s apartment, a community service visit to University Prep High School and an trip to the August Wilson African American Cultural Center.
ESPN has aired All-Access shows featuring the Duke, Butler, Florida and Kansas State.
