Pitt stays No. 4 in AP poll, doubles 1st place votes

Pitt (24-3, 12-2) remained No. 4 in the AP Top 25 poll released this afternoon, but got twice as many first-place votes as the previous week. The Panthers, who lost at St. John’s 60-59 on Saturday, received 12 first-place votes. They are ranked behind new No. 1 Duke, No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Kansas following a week in which each of the top four teams lost. Texas is No. 5.

Pitt, which plays host to West Virginia on Thursday, fell two spots to No. 6 in USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll. The Panthers received four first-place votes from the coaches, up from one last week.
