Pitt Locker Room

JJ Richardson transferring to Houston

J.J. Richardson has committed to play for the University of Houston. The 6-foot-7, 235-pound forward/center transferred from Pitt last month due to a lack of playing time and a desire to return closer to his hometown of Houston.

Richardson, a sophomore, will sit out this season and have two remaining years of eligibility when he returns to the court in 2012-13.

Richardson, who starred at Fort Bend Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas, outside Houston, played in 23 games last season for the Panthers, averaging 1.1 points and 0.9 rebounds.

Glad to see JJR land on his feet in his hometown. He was a fan/teammate favorite with a great attitude and just got caught up in the numbers’ game.
