St. Raymond swingman Kerwin Okoro, one of Pitt’s targets for the Class of 2012, has given a verbal commitment to Iowa State.
The 6-foot-5 also was considering Seton Hall and Dayton. Pitt reportedly offered the Bronx native in April after he played well in the Pittsburgh Hoop Group Jam Fest. At the time, his high school coach Oliver Antigua, the brother of former Pitt player and assistant coach Orlando Antigua, said he thought Pitt was the perfect fit. He averaged 13.6 points per game last season despite playing with an injured right thumb.
With 7-foot New Zealander Steve Adams already committed for 2012, the Panthers are looking for a shooting guard/wing with their other available scholarship. Notre Dame Prep’s 6-3 Myles Davis and 6-4 Texan Je’lon Hornbeak still list Pitt among their potential choices.
