Pitt Locker Room

Pitt’s Jacobson might return to guard

In the spring, Pitt senior Chris Jacobson worked hard to learn the center position, even though he never had snapped in his life.
But Pitt coach Todd Graham reserves the right to change his mind.
Redshirt junior Ryan Turnley of Hopewell may be the best snapper on the team, and if he shows coaches he can handle all phases of the center position, Jacobson will move back to guard, his natural spot on the line.
Much was made of Jacobson’s selfless act in learning to play center, but he might be of greater value to Pitt at left guard. If Graham can find a solid center.
Schedule note
Pitt’s soft season-opening two-game stretch — Buffalo and FCS Division I-AA Maine — is followed by three tough non-conference opponents (Iowa, Notre Dame and Utah).
Buffalo and Maine combined to lose 17 of 23 games last season, but the three others were 26-13.
