Pitt hoops ranked No. 11 in coaches’ poll

 

NEW YORK – Pitt is ranked No. 11 in the first USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll preseason Top 25, released today.

The Panthers, who return two starters from a 28-6 team, were picked fourth in the Big East men’s basketball coaches’ poll on Wednesday.

Defending national champion Connecticut is ranked No. 4 in the USA Today poll, followed by No. 5 Syracuse and No. 8 Louisville.

No. 21 Marquette and No. 22 Cincinnati give the Big East six teams in the top 25.

North Carolina is ranked No. 1 with 30 of a possible 31 first-place votes. Kentucky is second and Ohio State is third.

  1. And now, all the attention will inevitably be turning to Pitt basketball since it doesn’t look so good for Pitt football at this time.
