Pitt senior guard Ashton Gibbs is one of 30 NCAA men’s basketball student-athletes selected as candidates today for the 2011-12 Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award. Here is Gibbs’ bio for the award.
To be eligible for the award, a senior must excel in four areas – community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of candidates follows this release.
The list will be trimmed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season.
My thoughts — Gibbs is as worthy a candidate for this award as just about anybody. He’s an outstanding college player, an excellent student, active in the community, etc. I can see him winning this, and no one would be more deserving.
