New Zealand five-star big man Steven Adams and DeMatha (Md.) Catholic point guard James Robinson have signed their National Letters of Intent.

Both letters were received earlier in the week — signing period started on Wednesday — but coach Jamie Dixon said there were some administrative dottings of Is and Ts that needed to be taken care of (the same stuff as every other year).

Pitt is not expected to announce any other signings before the conclusion of the fall signing period on Wednesday, Nov. 16.

Pitt’s 2012 class is ranked No. 8 by ESPNU, No. 8 by Rivals.com and No. 5 by CBSSports.com/MaxPreps.

“We are extremely excited about Steven and James,” Dixon said in a statement. “Both are good players from winning backgrounds and both have outstanding work ethic.”

Adams, a 7-foot, 240-pound center, led the adidas Nations Tournament in both scoring (22 ppg.) and rebounding (16.8 rpg.).

Following secondary school graduation from Scots College Prep (Wellington, N.Z.) in December, Adams will enroll and play at Notre Dame Prep in Fitchburg, Mass.

Robinson (6-3, 190) guided DeMatha to 90 wins, three conference titles, three city titles. Pitt is still heavily involved in recruiting his teammate at DeMatha, four-star center BeeJay Anya, a 6-foot-7, 265-pounder from the Class of ’13.
