Pitt junior point guard Tray Woodall underwent X-rays and an MRI on his abdomen/groin area today and his status for Saturday’s Tennessee game is undetermined.
Coach Jamie Dixon said that a decision on the team’s assist leader would be made after seeing the results from today’s test. Woodall was injured in the second half of Pitt’s 80-69 victory over Duquesne.
“”He’s in a lot of pain. There’s no question about that,” Dixon said. “We want to get all the results and all the data before we make any decisions or calls on that.”
If Woodall can’t play, Pitt could move Ashton Gibbs to the point and start John Johnson or Cameron Wright at shooting guard. Pitt also has Isaiah Epps or Lamar Patterson who could play the two guard spot.
“We’ve got other guys and we’re ready to go,” Dixon said. “We will see when that time comes.”
