Woodall named Big East Player of the Week

Junior guard Tray Woodall was named the Big East Conference Basketball Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists in victories over West Virginia and Villanova.

Woodall shot 62.5 percent (15-24) from the floor, hit 54.5 percent (6-11) of his 3-point attempts, and finished a perfect 17-17 from the free throw line. In Sunday’s win over Villanova, Woodall scored a career-high 29 points with six rebounds and five assists. At WVU, he scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the first half.

Woodall is the first Pitt player to earn Big East Player of the Week honors since Gilbert Brown on Dec. 20, 2010.

Pitt (15-9, 4-7 Big East) plays at USF (13-10, 6-4) on Wednesday. The game will be aired locally on Root Sports.
