Pitt will hold an outdoor Midnight Madness at 9:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, as part of the Homecoming activities and in honor of the institution’s 225-year anniversary celebration.
A court will be constructed on Bigelow Boulevard, between the Cathedral of Learning and the Union. The setup will include lights, portable bleachers and a video board. After being introduced, the men’s and women’s teams will participate in several contests – I’m told a dunk contest and a 3-point shooting contest are likely possibilities – along with promotional activities.
The event is free and open to the public. Before the Midnight Madness — Pitt’s first since 2003-04 — a fireworks and laser show will be held at 9:15 p.m. at the Cathedral. In the case of inclement weather, Midnight Madness will be held at the Petersen Events Center.
