  1. Reading says:

    1971 throwback uniforms tonight?

  2. JAL says:

Looks like last night’s line up except for flipping Jones and Mccutchen

  3. Dejan Kovacevic says:

    @JAL: Bodes well, doesn’t it?

  4. CDBrewer says:

Well, the death spiral was more injury induced than it has been in the recent editions…and it happened 2 weeks later than it had been happening…

  5. Curt says:

I’m thinking it could be a long night again.
Why did we get Josh Rodriquez again from the Indians? Hopefully this is not the answer to the lack of offense.

  6. Drew71 says:

buncha negative nellies, you all are.

well, i say they get at least SIX hits tonight.

  7. CDBrewer says:

Drew, I am glad I am not the only one who isn’t even mad at how stupid it is that we follow and LOVE this team!
What is the definition of insanity? Yup, livin’ it out with the Bucs.

  8. Keith says:

What 1B types will the Bucs be looking at in July?

  9. Drew71 says:

    Yes. Living the dream.

That’s what we’re all doing. Living the dream.

  10. Curt says:

See that’s the beauty of being a fan, we want to be sitting proud in PNC Park watching their first playoff game someday and telling everyone we know how faithful we were during the rough years! Lol.

  11. CDBrewer says:

    Trick is living that long…
Hoping for carbonite freezing technology to develop in time.

  12. Curt says:

Hey just read on mlbtraderumors that the Padres have released Jorge Cantu. Could he be a viable option for our Buccos to take a chance on? What does everyone think?
Any other first base options for us?

  14. Lawnbeaver says:

Why hasn’t Jaramillo been recalled? I thought he was on the 7 day DL due to an arm bruise. I like him a lot better than the 2 current options.

  15. CDBrewer says:

    @ Daryle
    Good call…

No Cantu…he was a flop this year. I think it would be Overbay except Cantu couldn’t ever field real well, so imagine how bad he would be.

  16. Dejan Kovacevic says:

    @Daryle: DARYLE!

  17. Reading says:

    Yes. Wearing the throwbacks.

  18. Dejan Kovacevic says:

Blass throwing that strike had to be one of the year’s highlights at PNC. Nice to see.

  20. Matt Kelly says:

Nice start, hate that our cleanup hitter just bunted, but i guess we are playing for 3 runs, not the big inning.

  21. CDBrewer says:

    This is a refreshing start.

Or maybe it is monkeys typing Shakespeare…even the worst team scores runs from time to time.

Just seems that when I truly believe we are into the death spiral, they snap back.
    Gotta give credit for resilience.

  22. JAL says:

Good start now have to keep scoring. Too often they score ear;y, stop scoring, and the opponent catches up

  23. Keith says:

Yes, but it would be nice for highlights to come from, you know, the team on the field, no?

  24. MrB says:

Nice start Bucs…loving the uniforms tonight. Wish I were there.

  25. JAL says:

    Pitchers hit the Pirates well

  26. Reading says:

Like to see more hit and run. Of course, you need baserunners. Great hit and run in Game 7 of 1971 Series with Stargell and Pagan in 8th inning plating the winning run from first.

  27. Keith says:

Our cleanup hitter hasn’t been at bat yet!

  28. CDBrewer says:

Somebody has to get Harrison in front of the ball…it isn’t bullfighting.
That one was hit hard, but he likes the ole…

  29. Reading says:

If Overbay is there it is now 5-1.

  30. Reading says:

Can we get Bartman out of there!

  31. pattonbb says:

    oh no……..

  32. CDBrewer says:

That woulda been a triple play if Hardy caught it.

  33. JoeBucco says:

Looks like comments are broken for the time being. Curious about the Pirates trading for Josh Rodriguez. Nice to have him back in the system, but that guy’s head has to be spinning this year with all the stuff he’s been through. Didn’t hit in AAA for Colunbus, not expecting much from him in Indy either. Maybe next year though he might be good to have around.

  34. Baywatch says:

Hey, Joe! Just got home from work, hadn’t even heard about getting Rodriguez back. Throw him into the shortstop mix, right? What could it hurt? I like Mercer down there at Altoona, seems to have some pop and is coming on. I know he and D’Arnaud were drafted at the same time … nice to see D’Arnaud showing some progress, too. I guess they’ll move D’Arnaud back over to second base now.

  35. JoeBucco says:

Sounds like the plan is for J-Rod to play all over. This front office loves versatility. Bunch of utility players in the system and hopefully one sticks somewhere. Article said that Rodriguez will play some 3B, SS and 2B while in Indy. Guess he and Chase will switch positions periodically.
