Comments

  1. stewart says:

I guess they are going for an all-righty lineup, doesn’t look veri intimidating

  2. Ryan(Nor-Cal Stlrfanrc) says:

Looks like the “B” team is in…should be interesting.

  3. Keith says:

    Second game lineup prediction:

    Tabata, LF
    Paul, RF
    McCutchen, CF
    Doumit, C
    Walker, 2B
    Jones, 1B
    Cedeno, SS
    Wood, 3B

  4. Hal Smith says:

Yikes, will we be able to score a run in the first game? It should be interesting watching them try. Or in my case listening.

  5. radio wave says:

    It’s the omg lineup.

  6. JAL says:

Pirate site says Karstens is starting game 1, guess we have to wait and see.

  7. JAL says:

Correia to DL with strained left oblique and Leroux activated

  8. Bizrow says:

Crap, the starters are dropping like flies

  9. Hal Smith says:

    @JAL
Where did you get the Kevin on DL info?

  10. JAL says:

    Bill Brink tweet

  11. JAL says:

Biertempfel tweeted the same info so that is two sources

  12. Bunch of fair weather fans... says:

Milwaukee has a good offense but Milwaukee’s 22-3 run since July 26 is skewed.

Everyone remember that night? Here’s a look at their schedule.

    July 6-0, Cubs, Astros
August 16-3, Cards (2), Astros, Pirates, Mets, Dodgers

    19 games were against sub .500 teams. (including 2 – 1 run games against the Pirates). Combined record: 341 – 417 (.457)

They deserve some credit for beating teams they’re “supposed to beat” but they’re not a World Series team.

  13. Bunch of fair weather fans... says:

It’s also time for managers to keep larger pitching staffs. If organizations are going to keep up with this ridiculous idea that not throwing keeps pitchers stronger then 12 pitchers isn’t enough.

I’d rather have one or two less position players then watch a staff wear down like the Pirates have recently. It’s more beneficial to keep weakened arms fresh.

By the way, anyone who’s ever had a workout regimen knows that sitting around on your butt doesn’t make you stronger.

  14. Radio wave says:

    A triple wasted.

  15. Drew71 says:

True Bunch. As a runner, I can sometimes get dead legs and a day or two strengthens me. But this is 15 days, not one or two. If I sit for 15 days, I have trouble just running to the bathroom.

  16. CDBrewer says:

    Bunch,

But anybody who has had a workout regimen knows 3/4 days on, 1 day off…body strengthens on recovery day. How many days before the off day depends, but you need the day to recover and strengthen.

Also…22-3 is damn good – against ANY major league competition. How many sweeps do we have this year? Sure, we aren’t World Series quality, but we are a .500 team if you remove the Brewers from our sched.
How many teams have had a 22-3 run this year – I bet you not more than 2 others (a guess, but that is a really strong stretch)?
I think the Phillies are better, when healthy. Maybe the Giant 1/2 of Timmy and Cain could clip them, the Sox have enough bats to beat them, but when the Brewers are right, they are at the top of the league.

  17. CDBrewer says:

    Drew,

Not sure we can even call it a workout regimen if you take 15 days off! LOL

But you gotta give joints and muscles time to recoup…

    Well, we are getting baserunners…
    Step 1 – baserunners…

  18. Radio wave says:

    Two more lob

  19. Bunch of fair weather fans... says:

    CDBrewer

There is a difference between rest and what they do to the pitchers. The fact that a starting pitcher can’t throw 130 pitches is ridiculous. It’s even worse that a reliever can’t throw more than three days in a row. These are adults with fully developed bodies. Strength and flexibility are gained not protected.

  20. Steve Smith says:

Game over when the opposing pitcher gets the hit to score two when this offence is so weak. I wish they would start hitting some Brewer pitching for a change.

  21. Radio wave says:

No way the pitcher gets 2 rbi’s.

  22. Radio wave says:

    Another lob in the5th.

  23. JAL says:

Oh those opposing pitchers, hit like All Stars against the Pirates.

  24. Radio wave says:

Karstens did the best he could

  25. Florida Steeler says:

    What a PATHETIC lineup!!!!

  26. Steve Smith says:

What’s worse, losing 20-0 to the Brewers or just losing every single game against them? I say the second. Also, when did Milwaukee’s pitching staff become all Hall of Famers? I know the competition they’ve played sucked, but they have been shutting down teams left and right. Now the lead is 6 so this one is definitely over with. Here’s hoping we do anything against Grenke.

  27. Radio wave says:

    Watson terrible.

  28. JAL says:

Poor pitching, got Braun and Fielder then gave up hits to much weaker hitters. another bad 8th inning.

  29. Steve Smith says:

A little too late Ludwick. Should have done that earlier with men on.

  30. TS says:

I said it before and say it again. Joe Beimel has no business pitching in the major leagues. Journeyman.

  31. CDBrewer says:

holy crap…why do we even watch the games against the Brewers anymore?

it is like watching early season college football when a top 20 team plays a 1-AA team…sometimes we are competitive.
    Sometimes we get bombed.

sadly, I will be watching the night cap too.

  32. TS says:

Too many two-strike pitches over the heart of the plate. You don’t win in the majors doing that.
