  1. Rumors were rampant that there would be floods and earthquakes in Pittsburgh before the Pirates would ever beat the Brewers.

Guess the rumors were wrong: Pirates beating the Brewers [I was there!] preceded the earthquake by one day.

    Can’t trust rumors!!

  2. @Groat I know what you mean, but I may have been closer to the epicenter living here in Woodbridge, VA. Felt pretty good down here. Hope they can keep it going and put a hurtin’ on them.

  3. Its strange, some people felt it big time, others did not. A neighbor of my Mom’s is quoted in the other paper, she lives right across the street and basically said the earth shook. My Mom and a nephew and a niece were out in the yard and felt nothing.

Must be Nuttings vault, its not used to opening up,

    Beat Em Bucs

  4. Depends on where you were when it happened. People in high buildings felt it more because they sway. I was outside and didn’t feel much but parked cars starting going up and down on the shock absorbers.

  5. Hey, PittsburghBoyinCali! This is for you when you check in … Good to have our boy Ohlendorf back, lumbering around the basepaths like a water buffalo! LOL! Guys gonna hurt somebody out there … I bet he’d flatten Fielder if one of them weren’t watching … just by accident, of course.

  6. I live outside of DC and teach in a modular classroom and it was really shaking for about ten seconds and rumbled the rest of the duration.
Hope Ross pitches well and we take another from the Brew crew.

  7. Or the quality of the building you were in. The Control Room had no idea it occurred, outside the protected area, a three story admin building was evacuated for 10 minutes or so. They built that late 70′s as a temporary building to house design engineers

Crazy. I read the shallow depth of the quake contributed to the span of it.

Burghers don’t design houses and buildings (except for nukes) for earthquakes

  8. Live in Arnold, MD (outside of Annapolis) and we felt the earthquake here. Was on the 2nd floor of a building and it shook pretty good. Felt like kind of standing on a small boat in rough seas.

  9. They just mentioned on the broadcast that the Brewers are on the cover of SI, hopefully that is their downfall!!

  10. I know that Doumit has a lot more potential as a hitter but after watching McKenry and Doumit on back to back nights, I just like the way McKenry receives the ball and calls the game.

  11. I mentioned earlier that I felt it. I was also in the second floor of our office building in Springfield, VA. The monitors shook and some of the light fixture were slightly swaying. I also felt the floor shake and then slightly move up and down. This was not as bad as the 6.5 followed a week later by the 7.9 in Fairbanks, Alaska back in November 2002. Those were some shaking quakes, and all the energy was pushed to the southeast away from Fairbanks.

  12. That ss kills us

  13. It appears the Brewers have their good luck back. Ridiculous.

  14. I wish the Bucs can get some dinky cheap hits like these other teams get against us. Just cheap.

  15. Set Doumit back down! He had ALL DAY to throw that.

  16. Good thing they didn’t use too much of the bullpen last night, they’re going to need it early tonight after this horrible inning. Ross is having the same luck as he did last year. Mostly cheap hits, and it doesn’t appear as the offense will give him much tonight since Estrada has yet to be scored upon by the Bucs.

  17. Poor ross o

  18. Game – set – match!

  19. I’m done for the night

  20. Guess I should have canceled my MLB tv a day early….radio for me here on out.

  21. Come on Buccos. This is getting ridiculous, our luck against the Brewers.

  22. Gotta keep on fighting, boys…….Get back in it!!!!……

  23. Woo hoo Pedro C is back. The savior has returned.

  24. 70 pitches already. 4th inning.

  25. The typical we get one, now let’s give them one or more back continues.

  26. Can’t quite wrap my mind around the fact that Ryan Braun has 27 stolen bases and Cutch only has 20. What’s up with that? And Braun is stealing all those bases with Fielder batting behind him.

  27. Speaking of Pedro C being back……What’s the hang up for not bringing back Chase and Alex?????……………Anyone?????…..

  28. Braun has 143 hits and 48 walks. McCutchen 126 hits and 70 walks.

    Braun .395 OBP to Cutch’s .372.

Braun 26 SB, CS 4. Cutch 20 SB, CS 7

Must be because Cutch doesn’t have Fielder batting behind him.

  29. … and Braun at 28 SB now…

  30. Cutch doesn’t get great jumps………..No one with that type of speed should get caught stealing that often……

  31. Ahhhhh a triple with no outs vrs the Brewers… I’ve seen this before…

  32. Just kidding…

  33. Presley is 1 for 1 with a walk, 2 rbi in three innings so far tonight at Indy. Batting .330.

  34. Time to DFA Pearce and get Presley up here.

  35. Another hit and a run scored for Presley tonight. Now at .332

  36. d’Arnauld 1-3, SB tonight as well.

  37. Do you really want Presley taking away at bats from Matt Diaz?? What is his average since the All-Star break again? He looked great again tonite.

  38. Diaz @ .263 right now

  39. Dave G

Two points–1-Pearce on DL so could have brought Presley now. 2-Pearce has an option so could just send him down but with roster expanding to 40 in a week no need to do anything with him.

  40. Get the kids/speed/enthusiasm/agressiveness back…..

  41. Diaz should be starting at least 5 times a week. He is really producing for us.

  42. True. My bad.

I’ve been working too many midnights lately. Brain is foggy.

Matt Hague is 2 for 2 with a walk and a run tonight as well, hitting .315

  43. What a pathetic effort, this team is melting down. The pitching held on for as long as it could and now has imploded. The hitting still stinks and the defense and base running is marginal. We lose a minimum of 90 games and maybe 93-94

  44. Placing myself on the ‘do not comment’ list for 5 days. Will be back when I make sense.

  45. @Dave: You’re doing fine!
