  1. Eric Bowser says:

Would it be too early to waive the white flag for this game?

Enjoy this one all, I’m checking out since the Pirates already did.

  2. JMB says:

90 losses here we come. I hope Nuttin’ got his’self a 30 day return/exchange deal with that ridiculous NH extension.

These dudes had better have a brilliant off-season plan; the Pirates are looking like they will be terrible again next year.

Year five next season will be ANOTHER 90+ loss season, and we will hear how NH needs 7-10 yrs…

  3. Steve Smith says:

I sense a 20-0+ spanking again today. Already 11-0 and it is only 1 out in the bottom of the third. This is getting beyond ridiculous.

  4. JoeBucco says:

So when the Cubs pass us tomorrow, and we lose our 90 whateverist game, can we officially declare this season a failure again. I really don’t care what we were in late July, since then we are the worst team in baseball. what a fluke those few months were. And NH scams another few years of being in a job he’s bot qualified to have. This stinks, and I am beyond tired of 90 loss ‘improvements’.

  5. Playoffs by 2012 says:

    @ JMB

Is there any solid evidence that Huntington will do anything different than what he has done the last 3 offseasons? The 2 most important things that need to be accomplished are the long term signings of McCutchen and Walker. But in order for that to happen Uncle Bob is going to have to open up his wallet and make a serious commitment. I find it amazing that this management team can easily spend 10 figures year after year on unproven amateurs, and then 10 figures on washed up free agents. But just flat out refuses to pay the TALENT they already have.

  6. JMB says:

I only have an assumption that there will be so much money coming off the books in 2012 that the team will have to make some moves to build off of the attendance bump in 2011. Another 90 loss season cant possibly be part of the plan at the five year mark.

I dont really like the FA options, so the question will be what can be acquired via trade.

  7. Dave G in Mason, OH says:

Great to see how this pitching staff has each other’s backs every now and then: each one gives up a few runs so that you can’t blame the loss on any single one of them.

  8. Dejan Kovacevic says:

I’ve updated the score up in the headline.

  9. hsages211 says:

Hate seeing the Buccos struggle this much late in the season after giving us a fun first few months of the season. That being said, DK’s Dodgers 5,000,000 Pirates 1 update to the blog made me laugh out loud.

  10. JAL says:

Might be 90 losses but that far better than the 105 or more some posters said they would have this season.

Still, terrible last two months of the season.

  11. Dave G in Mason, OH says:

    LMAO @ Dejan…

  12. Dave G in Mason, OH says:

Bucs used 8 pitchers in 8 innings pitched. Dodgers never batted in the ninth.

If this game was in Pittsburgh, the Bucs might have used one more pitcher in the ninth. That was the point of my tweet earlier…

  13. pghboyinca says:

JAL, It is thinking like “90 losses is better than 105″ that makes me wonder how low people can possibly set expectations for this putrid franchise. Does it matter when you suck so bad you are setting records for the worst losing streak in all of professional sports if one year you suck slightly less?

  14. JMB says:

Oh, I think we have found the slogan for this year and next.

    2011 — We sucked 15% less than 2010 –WooHOOOO!

2012 — We will try to suck less than 2011 and definitely less than 2010, but we aint guaranteeing nothing or setting any benchmarks. We need 10 years, you know, cuz of the Littlefield fella'; it is really STILL all his fault! Our trades, FA signings, and drafts havent been to blame –AT ALL!

  15. JUCOFan says:

This organization won’t make Cutch a competitive offer. And even if they do, he won’t accept. Would you? I expect they will trade him during his arbitration years, and we will hear things about making room for Starling Marte, or how lucky we are to have depth in the minors with weak hitting outfielders like Marte, Gorkys and Presley and Tabata before them . The Bucs were lucky in the first half and nothing more. Just look at Baseball Prospectus’ 3rd order winning percentage for proof of that.
