Final: Penguins 8, Sabres 3

Looking ahead to faceoff …

Game: Penguins (17-11-4) vs. Buffalo Sabres (16-12-3)

Time: 7:08 p.m.

Site: Consol Energy Center

TV, radio: Root Sports (except for a goal here or there), 105.9 The X.

Here is the official live summary.

News updates are on our Penguins page. Josh Yohe never sleeps.

  1. Jason Williams scores early goal shooting a slap shot that appeared to deflect off Buffalo defenseman Jordan Leopold’s skate and fool the unsuspecting Sabres goaltender Ryan Miller.

    1-0 Pens

  2. Make it 2-0 Penguins as rookie defenseman Simon Despres fires a slap shot along RW circle for a power play goal

  3. Sabres have injuries and struggling themselves and though Penguins could say the same thing for their recent play, this isn’t the same hockey team I watched last night in the emergency room at the hospital.

Trying to be quiet with a sick wife in bed after 2 goals. LOL

  4. Sabres just let Malkin into the zone and he stick handled way too deep into the slot and blew a wrister by Ryan Miller to make it 3-0…. geezus

  5. Is it 1993?

Orpik backed up WAY too much into his zone and gave Thomas Vanek all the time and space needed to blow a shot by Fleury to cut the lead to 3-1.

  6. Tyler Kennedy makes a nice pass to Pascal Dupuis all alone in front of Enroth but deflection off his stick misses the net.

  7. Malkin backhand goal against Enroth to make it 4-1 Penguins with 2:27 to go in first period.

  8. Penguins have scored 8 goals in the last three periods of play.

  9. When Penguins get back to a healthy group of defensemen, I don’t know how rookie Simon Despres isn’t among the starting six. He’s got the size and skills (2-way player) to be a really good NHL’er but I know Ray Shero doesn’t like to rush defensemen into NHL action, so we’ll have to see how it plays out.

  10. 5-1 Penguins

Neal scores PP goal setup by the GREAT Evgeni Malkin. Ryan Miller was put back into the game to start second period, strange move, but he had no chance on that goal as Neal just lasered a one-timer by him.

  11. Rob Blake, oh, I mean Deryk Engelland rushes up ice and releases a nice wrist shot from the left-wing to deflect off Miller’s stick and into the yawning net. It was a real nice effort by Engelland but equally as bad for Miller.

Lindy Ruff has to be thinking about starting Jhonas Enroth for third period.

  12. Nice come back game after last night….hope the er visit wasn’t too serious, eric
