Go Yags!!!!!! Put on a show in Pittburgh one more time tonight. After Lemieux, Jagr provided the best hockey memories in this city’s history. Yeah, he says some goofy stuff when interviewed, but I’ll take his moody, at-the-time honest ramblings over the same boring cookie-cutter answers that 99% of other athletes spew.
When I think of Jagr, I think of one of the NHL’s best ever putting on a show night after night for years, and I don’t remember any dog in him either.
Dejan-
Really appreciate your work, past and present. Given your connections with the Pens, I am curious about something relative to Sid.
I have read that he has passed his “concussion test” but is still experiencing headaches….have they ruled out a neck (spinal) injury? Particularly after his first hit, which appeared to be square on the chin and his last one, which was kinda similar is why I am asking. In my own experience, I had a neck/spinal injury in HS football 30 years ago (no concussion) and I still occasionally have headache symptoms that are relieved with chiropractic adjustments. I know that he has a Chiro on his “team” but a lot of MD’s give little cred to chiros – especially REALLY smart ones, if you know what I mean. But it certainly works in my case.
From the distance we fans have to the actual day to day info, I haven’t read or heard anything along this line of thinking, other than one comment where they thought, at one point they may have misinterpretated concussion symptoms from a sinus infection.
Any thoughts?
Let the show begin….
Staal slides to the side of the net and scores the first goal
1-0 Pens
1:49 Hartnell 2 Minutes for goalie Interference. Pens on PP
6:13 Malkin 2 minutes for hooking. PP for the Flyers
9:01 Neal 2 Minutes for Tripping. Man advantage again for Flyers.
Timonen scores for the Flyers on the PP.
1-1
11:55 Coburn 2 Minutes for Hooking. Pens PP
15:56 Michalek 2 Minutes for Elbowing.
So I come home, start playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and boom, its 7:30… oops.
According to my timeline on Twitter, it looks like Root Sports is screwing around with the broadcast angles. Great.
2nd Period begins with the score tied at 1.
Lots of action, great scoring chances and spectacular saves.
Great crowd energy, obviously.
Jagr scores and gives the mile high salute.
Time for Orpik to salute him back.
Orpik had a chance to nail Jagr with 10:09 left in the 2nd and didn’t finish…
Bless you, Brooks! SLAM on Jagr
Disappointing performance by the Penguins tonight, too much time and space for the Flyers and you can’t do that witih a team like this. They have too much size, speed, and skill to be allowed to skate and pass without pressure.
Niskanen did little to take his man or play the puck
Read dumps a rebound behind Fleury.
3-1 Flyers
See if the Pens can continue the recent third period magic…
Malkin in the box for goalie interference midway third period.
Kennedy rips one to make it 3-2
4:47 remaining in 3rd. Pens on PP as Flyers called for too many men,
And Max sinks the empty netter to seal it for the Flyers
