  1. Pirates knocking young Mr. Drabek around pretty well in bottom of second. A now or never year for this pitcher who has not lived up to the hype/expectations.

  2. Best news so far is home run by Alverez.

  3. Grapefruit for everyone!

Glad to heaer Alvarez still remembers how to put one out. Hopefully many more to come.

  4. Jones with a solo homer in bottom of third, 4-0 Bucs.

  5. Lincoln pitches himself into a bases loaded two out jam in top of fourth. But ends the inning untouched with a routine fly out.

  6. Brad Lincoln, anyone ?

  7. Lincoln even worse in 5th, gives up a two run HR, as of now 4-3 Bucs.

  8. And back to back doubles ties the game at four, and Lincoln’s day is over.

  9. A.J. Burnett anyone?

  10. @Lucky

    As soon as humanly possible.

  11. That seems to be Lincoln’s story so far. One good outing, one bad one. Consistency is drastically needed for him to be effective at the ML level.

  12. @Lucky

This is pretty simplistic, but just look at a guy like Jeff Karstens. Lincoln has better stuff. It’s all about control. Guys that can throw the ball where they want to most of the time are the ones that have long careers. And you don’t have to throw it 95 mph to do it. If you can do both, you have Sandy Koufax.

  13. Milo,
Couldn’t agree with you more. Al a Greg Mattox.

  14. Sure glad they don’t play Toronto all 162 games.

  15. Worst news from today ? Tim Neverett saying that Evan Meek hasn’t regained the velocity he lost last year. And the results are showing it so far. Back to the control thing. He doesn’t have good enough control to throw 90-91 and get away with it. Very disturbing. Dr. Andrews on speed dial ?

  16. @Milo – Agree with you about Meek. But keep in mind there’s a lot of Spring left. I heard John Smoltz talking the other night. He said most pitchers gain velocity as Spring goes on. He said he would gain 4 or 5 mph on his fastball by the time opening day happened. Not comparing Smoltz to Meek, just making a statement about velocity. Maybe there’s time for his fastball to regain some zip.
