  1. Interesting lineup, entire OF unlikely to make the 25.

  2. DK,
Some of us sure liked it a lot more when you “tossed occasional stuff” here on the blog rather on your Twitter account, which is unavailable to many.

    We here!

  3. Andy Pettite signs a 2.5 mil minor league deal with Yanks. Too bad he couldn’t have been lured to the ‘Burgh for a couple years on that low salary. 240 wins, a lefty, only 39 veteran presence.

  4. Sure wish the Phils were in the Buccos division (well not right now with the Phils’ staff); it would make for some wonderful regular season series.

@Lucky-what is it about these ballplayers. They just can’t sit back, play golf and spend their days with their families in their mansions. Desire to compete runs deep.

@Groat: Here, here about the Twitter.

  5. I’m adicted:
I’ve shut off March madness to follow the game and this thread. Good thing my school doesn’t play until 7 tonight.

  6. You’re right, John. He certainly made enough in his 16-year career to “go on with his life’s work” as Chaz Noll used to say. Just can’t stay away.

  7. Another great article today! You are in the zone, you are locked in! Every pitch looks like a beach ball! You are on top of your game!!!

You and Rob make a great team covering the Bucs in Florida. Thank you!

  8. 1-2-3 inning for Correia and then Marte leads off with a homer, think he has some potential

  9. Marte takes Cliff Lee out. Hope he carries that hot bat to Indy.

  10. Took the day off. Fortunately, the wife is at work and the kids are in school. I’ve got the basketball going on the TV and the Buccos on satellite radio (too bad it’s the Phils’ broadcast). My wife hates it when I sports multitask so I am going to enjoy it with you guys while I can.

  11. Matt Hague: “Hit Collector”
    Brandon Boggs: “Out Collector?”

  12. Wrote this about Boggs in my article

“Brandon Boggs has shown no ability to hit in the majors, in 326 major league at bats he has a .209 BA with 10 home runs and 113 strikeouts. Some power does not make up for his strikeouts and poor batting average.”

  13. John – almost sounds like a perfect day…

  14. Yeah DK! What Groat and OshKish said…we don’t do twitter…you givin us the cold shoulder????

OshKosh, enjoy it while it lasts ;)

  15. Boggs looks like the anti-Marte headed for Indy, but we may see Marte in the fall and probably won’t see Boggs again.

  16. Nice 3 innings for Correia, 1 hit.

  17. What did A.J. say about Twitter and Facebook? I think he said he’s an adult, he does have a Twitter or Facebook account. (or page or whatever).

  18. I meant he “doesn’t”.

  19. If Correia has last year’s first half for this whole year, I like the Pirates chances.

@Kevin-just made my hot wings recipe-now the perfect day.

  20. Pirates go up 2-0, Marte and Barmes single with 1 out, Marte takes 3rd on pitch in dirt, McGehee grounder to 3rd bobbled and onlt out at first so Marte scores (could have been a DP without the bobble).

  21. Correia back out for the 4th.

  22. Correia through 4 1 hit 1 BB 2 K 0 runs

  23. Anybody else want to see the Bucs go against their own convention and actually bring Marte up to the Big Leagues to start the season on the bench or even platoon with Presley in Left – don’t forget how huge that area is at PNC? I know he may not get as many at bats, but he is very interesting. I also don’t want to see them trade him just because he may be blocked some in the outfield.

  24. Jal-Any idea how many pitches?

Marte-Eh, might be ok one day

  25. Ryan

No idea how many pitches but Meek on in the 5th

  26. Steve

Not me, better to get some AB in AAA.

  27. Has Correia given up any earned runs this spring?

  28. John

    No, his ERA is 0

  29. Fox with a homer, 3-0 Pirates in 5th

  30. Forgot Scotty Pods was still in baseball.

  31. Absolutely no reason to start Marte’s clock early, and certainly not to sit on the bench.

  32. Great effort against the great Cliff Lee.

  33. And Fox goes yard in the 5th. Bucs lead 3-0, Lee reaches his pitch count. Fox goes yard in the 5th. Bucs lead 3-0.

  34. sorry JAL, of course you were on top of the story.

  35. I agree with JAL/AW. Unless he’s gonna start, keep him AAA. Now, if Presley or McClouth tanks and he does well (I think he will) then call him up.

Marte will be the starting LFer next year though, I think.

  36. Plus why get Marte’s major league days service clock running and tolling while he sits a lot of the time on the bench?

  37. Marte has never played in AAA, spent all last season in AA

  38. Free Bird! (Starling). Just kidding. He needs to show he can hit AAA pitching. He’s doing it now (not saying Cliff the Great is AAA, just can’t look at ST as a good indicator).

  39. Sorry, AW, you had made my point earlier.

I think Marte should be sent to Altoona again so Jandy’s family can have him over for dinner. :)

  40. Bottom of 7th and Pirates up 3-0. Phils have 3 hits.

  41. Not exactly Murderer’s Row in for the Phils today, JAL, except for Hunter (Should have been a Pirate) Pence.

  42. Roughtop of 9th, a walk, error, hit batsman, Phils have em loaded.

  43. Navarro in the outfield?

  44. Nice to see Morris find some control……..(sarcastic)

  45. With one out, Phils get sacrifice fly, 3-1.

  46. Two out grounder to Mercer, throw late, run scores 3-2.

  47. Finally, Morris gets Pierre to ground out to second, game over.
